![]() My question is.is it worth using DXO PhotoLab for its automatic adjustment features such as DN etc. At another level, it starts showing signs of being a more complete editing package at a significantly more capable level. That means I’m comfortable in using it and it continues to be one of my first choices for some types of my work. Lastly, I have read that the DXO DNG outputted file may have lost pixels in the process(before I continue editing in Lightroom). At one level, PhotoLab is just the next version of DxO Optics Pro. This of course impacts my external storage which has been challenged much sooner than I had planned. Additionally, I have read that the resultant DXO linear DNG file can be as much as 3x the size or the original Adobe DNG file. After applying your adjustments in PhotoLab you can use the Export to Lightroom option to send the images back to Lightroom. I find the uploading time, using my Macbook is anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute for each image which is a real time delay with a large batch of images. Recently I have used DXO PhotoLab for its basic automatic adjustments, using thsir Lightroom plugin, and after the DXO auto processing, uploading back to Lightroom. Lightroom is also coupled with Photoshop, a mobile app, and cloud storage. Here are my thoughts: Wow, the Lens Sharpness (sharpening) and Prime Noise Reduction is just incredible. DxO PhotoLab isn’t as organized as Adobe Lightroom, however, and misses out on some tools like HDR mergers and panoramas. I had been using Lightroom for 8 years prior. This will send a tiff file to PhotoLab and you won’t be able to use the RAW conversion features. The file will then open in PhotoLab ready for you to edit it Note: Don’t use the right-click menu to ‘open-with’ photoLab. I am reasonably competent in the use of Lightroom Classic CC, however editing shots, many of which are in different conditions is a long process. I’m a new DxO Photolab user (for about a week). Simply select the file (or files) that you want to edit in Lightroom then choose file->Plug-in Extras->Transfer to DxO PhotoLab 4. As an aspiring travell photographer, I can shoot as many as 3000 images on an extended itinerary.
